On the afternoon of December 30th, the cultural exhibition hall of our school's library was filled with the fragrance of ink, as the "Passing the Torch of Five Decades of Bookishness, Embarking on a New Journey with Urging Whips" Yantai calligraphers campus calligraphy brush meeting event was held here. Jiang Yusong, Chairman of the Yantai Calligraphers Association, Wang Ningbo, Vice Chairman of the Laishan District Calligraphers Association, Sun Maozhong and Yang Jieci, Vice Chairmen of the Laishan District Folk Artists Association, Zhang Xiuhai, Consultant of the Association, Tao Chuanwei, former Vice President of the school, representatives of international students from the School of International Education, and calligraphy enthusiast students from the whole school gathered together, expressing their best wishes for the school through the medium of ink.
At the event, the calligraphers were full of energy and wielded their brushes with ease. Their brushstrokes flowed freely across the rice paper, some vigorous and powerful, others elegant and agile, and some calm and grand. Centering on the themes of the Year of the Horse and the campus's striving spirit, they meticulously created a series of calligraphy works imbued with beautiful meanings: the character "Fu" (blessing) was painted with bold and smooth strokes, symbolizing good fortune; the couplets for the Year of the Horse conveyed New Year's blessings with their balanced and neat phrasing; and large-character works like "Success Immediately" exuded grandeur and momentum. Each piece embodied the artistic dedication and sincere wishes of the calligraphers.
During the event, the calligraphers not only demonstrated their craft on-site but also patiently guided calligraphy enthusiast students in brush techniques and shared insights into the art of calligraphy. The students, eager to learn, carefully observed and studied the masters' work, frequently asking questions and fostering a lively interactive atmosphere. The international students from the School of International Education were particularly captivated by the unique charm of calligraphy. Many stopped to admire the works, and some even tried their hand at holding the brush, experiencing the joy of calligraphy creation under the guidance of the calligraphers and immersing themselves in the profound depth of traditional Chinese culture.
The calligraphy brush meeting is a highlight of the annual "year-end" events. Its successful organization not only provided an opportunity for teachers and students to engage in calligraphy art exchange but also further inspired their passion for traditional calligraphy. Moreover, through the medium of ink, it conveyed a spirit of striving and progress, injecting new vitality into the construction of campus culture.
