Shandong Business Institute is a provincial public full-time general higher education institution approved by the Shandong Provincial People’s Government and registered with the Ministry of Education. The college currently has two campuses, one in Yantai and one in Jinan. The Yantai campus is located in the central area of the Yantai National High-tech Zone, backed by high-tech industries and facing the sea to the north, offering beautiful scenery, a pleasant environment, and a strong educational and cultural atmosphere. The Jinan campus is situated in Licheng District, Jinan City. The Yantai campus covers an area of over 1,100 mu, with a building floor area of 324,000 square meters and total assets exceeding 1.398 billion yuan. Currently, the college has over 18,000 enrolled students.
The college focuses closely on serving the national food security strategy, continuously strengthening its grain-related educational characteristics, and systematically advancing the “Four-Color Project” system consisting of “Grain Foundation, Business Highlight, Manufacturing Enhancement, and Digital Background.” This project has been established as a core strategy for deepening educational reform and serving industrial upgrading. The college has developed into a modern higher vocational institution driven by a “four-wheel drive” model (primarily junior college education, complemented by “3+2” integrated bachelor’s programs, international cooperation, and social training), and coordinated development across two campuses in Yantai and Jinan.
Centered on teaching, the college has 12 teaching departments, including the School of Accounting and Finance, School of Information Engineering, and School of Economics and Management. It has built a unique “244” professional group layout that “supports the grain industry and serves the regional economy,” covering grain storage and processing, digital operation of grain and oil products, grain machinery equipment, application of digital and intelligent grain technology, food safety, digital finance for grain, digital trade, cultural creativity, smart tourism, and smart cities. The college offers 48 majors, achieving 100% alignment with national strategies and key regional industries. Among these, there are four national-level key majors, three majors supported by central government funding, three provincial brand professional groups, five provincial high-level professional groups, four provincial characteristic majors, two Ministry of Education modern apprenticeship pilot projects (three at the provincial level), two majors supported by Shandong Province’s on-site engineer training program, and 40 majors participating in the 1+X certificate system pilot.
The college has established a comprehensive vocational education system and practical teaching facilities. It boasts a modern library of 25,000 square meters, housing nearly 1.53 million volumes. It has over 90,000 square meters of experimental and training facilities, including two modern training bases funded by the central government—the Grain and Oil Quality Inspection Center and the Flour Milling Technology Training Center. The college also has 14 national-level vocational skill assessment stations and over 200 high-standard professional laboratories and training rooms, with teaching equipment totaling over 220 million yuan. Additionally, leveraging its industry connections, the college maintains close cooperation with business departments, operating 372 off-campus internship and training bases and employing 376 part-time instructors with extensive practical experience.
Rooted in the grain industry, the college fully supports the construction of Shandong Province’s Green, Low-Carbon, and High-Quality Development Pioneer Area. It adheres to a holistic approach to teacher development across all processes and aspects, achieving breakthroughs through the “Highland Construction” initiative and forming a four-tiered talent cultivation system: “young teachers—backbone teachers—program leaders—renowned masters.” This system comprehensively enhances the quality of dual-qualified teachers.
