The School of Food Science and Technology is a key secondary college of Shandong Business Institute, known for its long educational history, profound disciplinary foundation,and distinctive international features.The college currently offers five majors:Grain Engineering Technology and Management,Grain Storage and Transportation and Quality Safety,Food Inspection and Testing Technology,Food Quality and Safety,and Pharmaceutical Quality and Safety.The program development consistently stays at the international forefront and deeply serves national strategic needs.
The college has achieved remarkable results and received numerous honors:it has won the First Prize for Outstanding Teaching Materials in the National Textbook Construction Award and the Second Prize for National Teaching Achievements.It also hosts a National-level Vocational Education Teacher Innovation Team,a Shandong Academician Workstation,a National Demonstration High-skilled Talent Training Base for Grain and Material Reserves,as well as high-level platforms such as the Shandong Engineering Research Center for Healthy Grain and Oil Innovative Technology Application,and the Yantai Key Laboratory for Grain Deep Processing Technology.In addition,since 2024,the Shandong Branch of China Grain Reserves Group Co.,Ltd.has organized targeted recruitment examinations for students of the college for two consecutive years,fully reflecting the industry's high recognition of the college's talent cultivation quality.
The Grain Engineering Technology and Management major is a flagship program serving the national food security strategy.It is the core program of Shandong Province's high-level professional group,a national modern apprenticeship pilot,a centrally funded key program,a ministry-level backbone program,and a provincial-level featured program.The teaching team has been recognized as a provincial Huang Danian-style teaching team and a national-level ideological and political education teaching team,including one provincial teaching master.Its teaching achievements include a second-place national award and a first-place textbook award.The team has developed three national-level planning textbooks,published over 30 papers,undertaken 26 industry-oriented projects,and been granted 12 patents.It has built a grain engineering professional training base and grain and oil testing laboratories equipped with advanced facilities to meet practical teaching needs.
The Grain Storage and Transportation and Quality Safety major is a provincial featured program,a core program of the high-level professional group,and a national teacher innovation team construction program.It hosts a national vocational skills certification base,a national production-oriented training base,a national grain industry top-talent studio,a provincial grain quality and safety testing training base,and a provincial master skill studio.The teaching team consists of six full-time instructors,including one professor and three associate professors,with national technical experts,national ideological and political education course masters,national grain industry top talents,and a provincial teaching master.The team has led or participated in the formulation of four national standards,presided over projects that won a second-place national teaching achievement award and a first-place provincial award,won a third-place national prize in the teaching ability competition,been granted eight patents,and led or participated in 19 research projects.
The Food Inspection and Testing Technology major is a key construction program in the Ministry of Education's"13th Five-Year"innovation action plan,a centrally funded key program,and a key program for the construction of provincial-level high-profile institutions and high-level professional groups.Aimed at industries such as quality inspection services,agricultural and sideline food processing,and food manufacturing,the major trains high-skilled professionals capable of food inspection and testing,laboratory management and services,and food quality and safety management.It has multiple specialized training venues for microbiological testing,food analysis,sensory evaluation,and nutritional meal preparation.The team has a full-time and part-time dual-qualified teaching staff,including three professors and six associate professors,with 75%holding senior professional titles;all full-time teachers have master's degrees(including two with doctorates),and it has a part-time teacher resource pool with frontline industry professionals guiding practical training.
The Food Quality and Safety major trains high-quality technical and skilled professionals who are familiar with domestic and international food quality and safety systems and standards,possess professional knowledge and skills,and have the ability to control quality and oversee safety.The major has a teaching team including three professors and six associate professors,with 100%dual-qualified teachers.The team has led four provincial education research projects and six industry-oriented projects,published 14 textbooks,been granted 20 national patents,published more than 20 papers,and trained 1,600 people for professional certifications.The college has multiple on-campus training bases for sensory evaluation,food analysis,microbiology,grain and oil,enzyme-linked assays,and fluorescence detection,supported by strong faculty expertise.
The Pharmaceutical Quality and Safety major is designed based on the talent needs of pharmaceutical enterprises.It trains high-quality technical and skilled professionals who master professional skills and theoretical knowledge in pharmaceutical quality and safety,have the ability to test,produce,and manage quality,and emphasize practical,comprehensive,and innovative capabilities.The teaching team is centered around"dual-qualified"talents,with ten full-time and three part-time instructors,including five with senior professional titles and two with doctorates;all full-time teachers hold master's degrees or higher.In recent years,the team has achieved fruitful research results:winning a third-place Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and a second-place Qingdao Science and Technology Progress Award,as well as a third-place prize in the Shandong Provincial Teaching Ability Competition and a first-place prize in the Yantai Vocational College Teaching Ability Competition,and a second-place prize in a vocational skills competition.The team has published more than 20 SCI-indexed papers,been granted over ten patents,and led the development of a complex injectable formulation that has been submitted for market approval.The on-campus experimental and training facilities are well-equipped,including laboratories for analytical chemistry,pharmaceutical preparation,pharmaceutical physicochemical and microbiological testing,and instrumental analysis,along with large-scale instruments such as liquid chromatography-mass spectrometers,high-performance liquid chromatographs,scanning electron microscopes,laser particle size analyzers,and tablet presses.
