Recently, international students from the class of 2023 at the School of Economics and Management of our university officially entered their internship positions at Yantai Baina Group, a key industry-academia cooperation partner. This internship marks a significant step in the school’s efforts to deepen industry-education integration and promote collaborative talent cultivation between universities and enterprises. It aims to enhance the students’ professional practical skills and cross-cultural workplace competitiveness through real-world workplace experience, while ensuring both the quality of talent development and the protection of student rights.

As a leading enterprise in China’s modern service sector, Baina Group has a strong foundation of collaboration with our university. Guided by the principles of “resource sharing, complementary strengths, and collaborative education,” both sides have jointly established an integrated training platform encompassing “teaching, practice, and employment.” The internship positions for international students cover core areas such as international trade reception and negotiation, as well as international customer service, allowing students to deepen their understanding and application of international trade practices and cross-cultural communication skills in real-world settings.

Our university places great emphasis on the cultivation of international students. To ensure the smooth implementation of the internship, the School of Economics and Management and Baina Group jointly formed an internship guidance team, consisting of professional teachers and enterprise mentors who provide continuous support as “dual mentors” throughout the internship process. On one hand, the teaching team regularly visits the enterprise and refines teaching content based on students’ internship performance, ensuring a deep integration of professional learning and workplace practice. On the other hand, a safety and security mechanism of “daily reporting, weekly review, and emergency response” has been established, providing comprehensive support for international students’ internship life—from accommodation management and workplace adaptation to psychological counseling—ensuring their peace of mind and that of their parents.

Wang Xingfei, an international student from Laos, shared, “Interning at Baina Group has allowed me to participate in real work for the first time. Every step has been full of challenges, but the dual support from the school and the enterprise has made me feel secure in an unfamiliar environment. I will cherish this opportunity and strive to improve my professional skills.”

This internship represents an important milestone in our university’s exploration of international talent cultivation models and serves as a vivid example of university-enterprise collaboration in empowering high-quality employment for international students. In the future, the School of Economics and Management will continue to deepen cooperation with high-quality enterprises like Baina Group, further refine the internship and training system for international students, and contribute to cultivating more professionals who can meet the demands of global economic and trade development. We aim to enable more international students to achieve academic success and pursue their dreams in the land of Qilu.
